Website Dr. Davis is a Professor of
Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Department of
Physiology and Pharmacology at the Robert C. Byrd
Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University.
She received a B.S. in Psychology from the
University of California, Davis and Ph.D. from
Michigan State University. After a postdoctoral
fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical
Center, she joined the faculty at the West Virginia
University Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy. Dr.
Davis’s research has centered on mechanisms of
toxicity to chlorinated environmental contaminants
including halomethane effects on liver and kidney,
interactions among drinking water disinfection
by-products and the role of cardiovascular control
mechanisms in kidney toxicity. Dr. Davis held
offices in the Allegheny-Erie Regional Chapter,
Society of Toxicology (Councilor, President) and as
the Treasurer of the Society of Toxicology. She
served on the editorial boards of Toxicology and
Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology and as a
reviewer for NIH study sections and the Air Force
Office of Scientific Research. Dr. Davis has served
on expert review panels for the Food and Drug
Administration and the Environmental Protection
Agency. She has served on the Drinking Water
Committee of the Environmental Protection Agency
Science Advisory Board and on the National Academy
of Sciences National Research Council Safe Drinking
Water committees on Health Effects of Disinfectants
and their Byproducts and on Pharmacokinetics; she
currently serves on the Committee on Assessing Human
Health Risks of Trichloroethylene. |
