1. Former WV-INBRE summer interns, Holly Dudash and Megan Docherty, co-authored a publication containing research they conducted during their summer internships in the laboratory of Dr. Stephen Alway. Holly attended Wheeling Jesuit University and interned in 2004 and 2005, while Megan attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and interned in 2006. The citation of the publication is:

Michael J. Ryan, Holly J. Dudash, Megan Docherty, Kenneth B. Geronilla, Brent A. Baker, G. Gregory Haff, Robert G. Cutlip, and Stephen E. Alway. Aging-dependent regulation of antioxidant enzymes and redox status in chronically loaded rat dorsiflexor muscles. J. Gerontol. A Biol. Sci. Med. Sci.63(10):1015-26 (2008).

2. Five undergraduate students who participated in internships in the 2009 WV-INBRE Summer Research Program made poster presentations of the results of their summer research at national meetings during the spring. Four students from West Virginia Wesleyan College, Cody Nichols, Sarah Owen, Amanda Seebaugh, and Chris Wolf, presented at Experimental Biology 2009 in New Orleans, LA, and one student from West Virginia State University, Daniel Palmer, presented at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology in Baltimore, MD. The citations of their presentations are:

Cody Nichols

Cody’s comments on the meeting: “The meeting was a good experience for me. Presenting at the undergraduate poster session gave me a chance to speak to different people and learn more about opportunities that are open to me after I finish my undergraduate degree.”Meg

Amanda’s comments on the meeting: “FASEB was amazing! It was great to get to see what kind of research was going on all around America and be exposed to all of the new ideas and projects. Thanks for sending me!”
